As a Systems Engineering Head, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture, integration, and execution of our cutting-edge implantable neurotechnology platforms, leading the team of system architects and engineers to develop end-to-end systems that combine hardware, software, and data pipelines.

You will be at the forefront of bringing advanced healthcare solutions to market, making a tangible difference in people´s lives worldwide.
Your profile

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead system architecture design and integration for implantable neurotechnology platforms, ensuring seamless operation across biological, mechanical, electrical, software, data, clinical and regulatory.
  • Define system-level requirements in collaboration with product, translational science, data, clinical, and regulatory teams to meet performance, safety, and compliance targets.
  • Oversee verification and validation (V&V) processes, ensuring system reliability, biocompatibility, and functional performance for both pre-clinical and clinical use.
  • Establish and maintain scalable development frameworks, tools, and testing infrastructure to support rapid iteration and robust system delivery.
  • Oversee that the integrated system meets the intended user needs and is designed with usability in mind, collaborating with human factors engineering and user experience teams as needed.
  • Oversee the design for reliability, manufacturing, and test, including concept engineering, functional analysis, stress analysis, and system modelling (e.g. thermal safety, MRI interactions with the implants etc.).
  • Identify and assess broad risks associated with the integration of subsystems and implementing strategies to mitigate potential issues that may arise during the development process.
  • Cross-functional team management; manages and supervises the Systems team and any other teams under the assigned area of scope, ensuring projects are delivered as planned. The person ensures collaborative and innovative work environment, sets performance goals, and provides guidance and mentorship to ensure the team’s success.
  • Collaborates with the various management and the leadership team to support the strategic allocation of engineering capacity and between outsourcings.
  • Collaboratively recruits and train employees to ensure that the organization has the right talent to achieve its goals. This also involves creating an environment that promotes employee growth and development.

Mandatory Qualifications and Soft skills:

  • BS or MS in a relevant technical discipline, e.g., mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical, biomedical engineering, physics or neuro-engineering, neuroscience.
  • At least 10 years of Experience in working in a relevant industrial setting (regulated environment, MedTech, medical devices (ISO13485) and Active Implantable Medical Devices (AIMD, ISO14708) with a proven experience executing a full development cycle.
  • Proven experience in System engineering
  • Fluent in English oral and written (company language).
  • Proven track record of product development and commercialization achievements.
  • Solid experience in managing technical (single) teams in a start-up/scale-up environment.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams, preferably in a start-up/scale up environment
  • Relevant experience in the medical device industry.
  • Leadership and communication skills with extensive experience interacting and engaging stakeholders at multiple levels in the organization, as well as external partners/suppliers.
  • Be a team player.
  • Communication and persuasion skills.
  • Ability to build trust to develop and sustain the relationships you need to be successful, grow trust.
  • Shape culture according to the company values and positively impact the morale, motivation, and engagement of those around you.

Nice to have:

  • Preferred to have solid experience in neuroscience 
  • Preferred to have solid understanding of Medical Risk Analysis.
  • Preferred to have detailed understanding of active implantable medical device development and application of its relevant standards.
  • Experience in developing multidisciplinary medical device is a plus.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
