As a Clean Room Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing daily operations within the clean room, ensuring the efficient execution of microfabrication and micro assembly processes. You will be leading a team of clean room technicians, driving production excellence, MES (Manufacturing Execution System) integration, automation, and data-driven process improvements.

You will be at the forefront of bringing advanced healthcare solutions to market, making a tangible difference in people´s lives worldwide.

This position will be office-based in Bellaterra. 
Your profile

Main responsibilities:
  • Development to Production Transfer: The principal responsibility of operational team is to support the development-to-production transfer process. This includes creating and refining the Bill of Materials (BOM), Bill of Processes (BOP), manufacturing equipment specifications, testing protocols, and manufacturing recipes. 
  • Working closely with supply chain to ensure that material availability, equipment procurement, and supplier coordination are aligned with production schedules, ensuring seamless integration of supply chain activities with clean room manufacturing operations. 
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the clean room, overseeing microfabrication and device assembly tasks.
  • Lead, train, and supervise a team of clean room and micro assembly technicians, ensuring adherence to clean room protocols and safety standards. 
  • Oversee daily task scheduling, resource planning, and production tracking to meet manufacturing deadlines and quality targets. 
  • Support MES integration, ensuring seamless communication between equipment, processes, and data systems.  
  • Identify automation initiatives within manufacturing to improve efficiency and reduce manual interventions. 
  • Support data warehouse systems to collect, analyse, and report production metrics for continuous improvement. 
  • Ensure compliance with clean room protocols and relevant industry standards (ISO 13485, GMP, etc.), including management of change broad controls, CAPAs, etc. 
  • Identify and implement manufacturing excellence initiatives to improve yield, reduce waste, and optimize processes. 
  • Collaborate with engineering and R&D teams to ensure new processes are scalable and production ready.
  • Manage risk assessment, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for production related issues.

Mandatory Qualifications and Soft skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field. 
  • Strong knowledge of microfabrication processes (thin-film deposition, lithography, etching, etc.) and micro-assembly techniques. Minimum 3 to 5 years experience.
  • Fluency in English required. While Spanish is considered as a strong plus. 
  • Experience in managing manufacturing teams in a pilot production or similar environment.
  • Familiarity with MES systems and experience with system integration.
  • Knowledge of automation tools and process control systems. 
  • Basic computer and math skills. 
  • Good understanding of manufacturing equipment and their operation.
  • Good understanding of operational manufacturing.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team in a fast-paced, high-precision environment.
  • Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot production issues and drive root cause analysis.
  • Clear and effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and reporting to senior management.
  • Comfortable managing changing priorities and evolving processes in a scaling manufacturing environment.
  • High level of accuracy and diligence in managing clean room processes and data.
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and quality.

Nice to have:
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or Operations Management. 
  • Strong understanding of data warehouse principles and ability to use production data for process optimization.
  • 5+ years of experience in clean room operations within a semiconductor, microfabrication, or medical device environment.
  • Experience in ISO 13485 or GMP-compliant manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor yield management and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Experience with LEAN manufacturing and continuous improvement practices (Kaizen, Six Sigma).
  • Familiarity with automated optical inspection (AOI) tools and automation systems.
  • Experience in robotics and motion control systems for microfabrication processes.
